Q: WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE INSTITUTE OF BEATY AND WELLNESS?
Kesiah: I love the trendy, urban vibe and I’ve always heard great things about the quality of the education itself.
Q: WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING THING YOU’VE LEARNED SO FAR IN YOUR PROGRAM?
Kesiah: I love doing color! There is so much science and creativity involved. It’s so much more complicated than I would have guessed. I feel like a painter.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SERVICE?
Kesiah: A Botanical treatment because almost everyone needs a little extra protein and/or moisture. It’s such an immediate different.
Q: WHAT IS THE ONE THIS THAT HAS SURPRISED YOU ABOUT YOUR PROGRAM?
Kesiah: How much thought goes into the business of being a hairstylist—benchmarking, service wheels, etc. We were given instruction on interviewing and resume building, as well as every day interaction with guests.
Q: WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO OTHERS THINKING ABOUT COMING TO IBW?
Kesiah: You’re never too old, too introverted, or too inexperienced to start a career in this industry. Your personality will flourish here. You can start from scratch and finish the program with all the technical still you need. We have students of all ages and walks of life go on to have long, successful careers after IBW.
