It’s a great time to be a barber! The men’s grooming industry is on the rise and is expected to reach more than 26 billion by the year 2020 (Hagerty, 2017). More men are taking care of their appearance and scheduling appointments regularly. As a result, there is a demand for more talented professionals in the industry.
Our 1000-hour barbering program will teach students the details and precision necessary for a rewarding career. Likewise, our convenient 3-day or evening program will accommodate most schedules.
Please meet Antonio. He is one of our talented barbering students who decided to take a chance and follow his dreams to become a barber. After working in the legal industry for many years he decided to enroll in school and pursue his passion.

Q: How did you become interested in barbering?
A: When I was 11 years old my friend gave me a pair of clippers and asked me to cut his hair. As soon as I tried it, I fell in love! I kept practicing and with his help I got much better.
Q: Why did you chose to attend The Institute of Beauty and Wellness?
A: I did some research online and scheduled a visit to the school. I liked the atmosphere of IBW and I also liked the evening schedule option.
Q: What is your previous work experience?
A: I have been working as a paralegal for about 7 years
Q: What is the most exciting thing you have learned so far in your program?
A: Cutting hair with shears! Before coming to school I had no experience with shears but with the help of my instructors, Chris and Amy, I was amazed to see what I can do.
Q: Who is your mentor in the industry?
A: My instructor, Chris Jones (@chrisjones600). He has been in the industry for a long time and

Q: Where do you see yourself after graduation?
A: My goal is to own my own barbershop.
Q: What one piece of advice would you give to others thinking about coming to school?
A: To be sure to focus, relax, and cut.
Q: What is your favorite AVEDA product?
A: Definitely the Men’s Composition Oil. I use it on all of my clients and it smells amazing.
